Caring for Your Refinished Hardwood Floors
Essential maintenance tips to keep your hardwood floors beautiful and protected for years to come.
Your Refinished Hardwood Floors - Caring For Newly Refinished Floors
Proper care ensures your newly refinished hardwood floors remain beautiful and protected. Follow these essential guidelines for optimal results.
Drying Time Requirements
Allow 24 Hours for Drying
Please allow at least 24 hours for your floor to dry (weather permitting). This ensures the finish cures properly and provides maximum protection.
Cleaning Your Hardwood Floors
Recommended Cleaning Method
We recommend at your discretion using a light spray of 50-50 vinegar/water, wiping the floor dry with a dry Swiffer or a terry cloth rag/towel.
IMPORTANT: Please do NOT use any other chemicals on your floors.
Post-Refinishing Care
Area Rugs & Tape
We do not recommend using any area/throw rugs nor applying any tape on floors for at least 2 weeks while your finish cures.
Animal Traffic
Keep animal traffic to a minimum for two weeks to prevent scratches and damage to the curing finish.
Furniture Placement
Furniture may be replaced (do NOT drag or roll) after 24 hours (weather permitting). We also recommend using felt pads.
Long-Term Maintenance & Restoration
If you develop wear patterns in your floors over the years, we can screen and coat your floors with another coat of polyurethane, ONLY if your floors are maintained properly.
A screen and coat will bring back the luster of your floor without needing any actual sanding.
